“The painter Eugene Bertram was in Elizabeth and spoke about her works”:

“Named Berta Eugene Bertram, born in Germany, but living since 1990 in the Algarve, where she feels very good. She was last week in Elizabeth together with a group from the South of Portugal to participate at the 24th anniversary of the “Benificiencia Algarvio”. We could speak with her in good Portuguese language about her life, work and the sun of the Algarve, and the painting she came with to offer in an AUCTION for the Beneficiencia Algarvia to help with the proceed Parkinson-sick children. We spoke about her various exhibitions…About the exhibition 2002 (in Switzerland) we could read the following written about her pictures :
Because of the intensive colours and the mystic moulds of the landscape the artist Berta Eugene Bertram could call really the people`s attention. Her mystical works are converted into drama.
Inspirated by the old masters our phantasy turns over into reality.
Her works are reflecting the interior world of the artist.

Berta explained that she works in her own style, uses colours in oil, acrylic, watercolours, distemper, gouache, charcoal and chalk. To be active in an intuitively creative way are applied frequently acrylic and chalk colours.
The biography of the painter: ………….
In her works are expressed human relations, symbolic and socialcritic statements, all integrated in mother nature and always reflecting the human being as part of the Univers.
An intensively oberservation and a second sight is necessary to read these works. Then the phantasy of the observer turns over into reality.”

Berta Eugenie Bertram realized an enormous success with her last exhibition in September, 2002 in the “Kronengalerie” in Zurich, Switzerland, where “Karin Gfeller” pointed out the intensity of the colours and the mysterious mould of the landscape in her paintings. The mysterious works are converted into drama. Inspired by the old masters they stimulate the imagination. The interior world of the artist is reflected in her works.
The mayor of the town of Almancil, Joao Martins, could not hide his surprise at the inauguration (13th of September) of her exhibition when he saw his portrait under the exposed others paintings (see right photo). The unexpected surprise even was the greater as he had his birthday one day before (11th of September).”
